Mascot Leadership
This will be a foundational resource for leadership success for those seeking or serving in leadership positions. Presented by Commander Jerry Thompson Ohio State Patrol (Ret.)
Description
The organizational culture of law enforcement has been to promote individuals to supervisory positions before adequately preparing them to serve. Unwittingly, the new supervisor will proverbially sink or swim – often a setup for failure. There is a recognized shift to the importance of preparing supervisors to lead before obtaining their supervisor positions. Publicized law enforcement incidents have resulted in facility administrators recognizing the probability of vicarious liability being levied against their agencies where training has been insufficient.
Through synergistic problem-solving and voluminous leadership conversations, the recognition encompassed within agencies' policies and procedures are the foundational success principles for the first-line leadership position. The how-to has been right in front of our faces. The MASCOT Leadership model, a proven and effective tool, is written for the officers considering first-line supervisor advancement and those currently serving in that role who may not have had training opportunities to prepare them for the position. The MASCOT Leadership model uncovers these and many other first-line leadership findings.
