Platform-Efficiency-Proficiency (P.E.P.) Use of Force Model
Platform-Efficiency-Proficiency (P.E.P.) is a proven Use of Force Model and philosophy which is aimed at reducing the number of force incidents, diminishing the likelihood of injuries, and reducing liability. The P.E.P. model bridges the gap between safely subduing a resisting subject and the public’s negative perception of Law Enforcement.
Description
P.E.P. presents a simple, comprehensive, real-world proven way to approach, evaluate, and handle potential force situations. P.E.P. is a Use of Force Model and philosophy created to protect Law Enforcement from civil and criminal liability by utilizing sound legal principles, common simple techniques, basic stress psychology, science, and documentation. The P.E.P. Program was developed as a working model that can adapt to any agency and its policies. The P.E.P. Model has shown an decrease in liability exposure and success for many agencies and thousands of officers since its inception.
P.E.P. is an acronym for: Platform, Efficiency, and Proficiency.
Platform:
A systematic breakdown and legal discussion to assist officers during their approach and pre-force conduct. It has proven invaluable to decision making and articulation of force options.
Efficiency:
A discussion and systematic process regarding how effective lawful and authorized force techniques and different force option devices are against individuals exhibiting “Perceived Unusual Behavior.” The course introduces the theory of capture, using very basic techniques that are easier to master and maintain competency than some other traditional techniques.
Proficiency:
Data collection and the ongoing review of current policies, statutes, training, and application of the techniques used to maintain proficiency and keep the program current. This course will provide a deep dive into articulation, report writing, and documentation, and will include templates and accurate descriptive language to accompany the actions taken. Attendees will walk away with a much thorough understanding of force, modern liability, articulation, and documentation. Proficiency also includes new creative proven methods to assist in mitigating liability.
Course Format
This course is offered in two course formats: "Hosted Classes" where students register individually, and "Contracted Classes" where agencies purchase the entire course at a discounted rate. For scheduling or inquiries, please contact us.
Student Responsibilities
Students are responsible for obtaining permission and approval from their departments prior to registration if the student plans to attend on-duty and have the agency pay for it. You know the rules.
If you want to attend, we recommend working with your agency prior to registering for a class. Because if you register for a class, and your department does not approve your time or tuition for any reason, you are still responsible for the terms of the attendance and cancellation policy including any applicable tuition.
