Description

This 3-Day Undercover Tactical Surveillance Course is a comprehensive program designed for law enforcement officers, investigators, and security professionals tasked with conducting covert operations in complex environments. This course delivers a progressive learning model that builds from foundational surveillance principles to advanced tactical application.

Day One focuses on surveillance fundamentals and operational planning, including mission objectives, intelligence development, team selection, roles and responsibilities, communications, legal considerations, and contingency planning. Students will learn proper covert identification techniques, behavioral indicators, and effective note-taking methods that support investigative success and courtroom credibility.

Day Two emphasizes mobile and foot surveillance operations in urban and suburban settings. Instruction covers vehicle positioning, pacing, use of terrain, team coordination, transitions, and maintaining visual contact without compromise. Students will also learn methods for identifying and responding to potential counter-surveillance, including recognizing indicators of compromise and adapting operations in real time.

Day Three integrates advanced surveillance techniques and tactical application, focusing on managing compromised operations, leadership decision-making under stress, and the transition from covert surveillance to enforcement or arrest operations. Risk assessment, coordination with tactical units, and arrest planning are emphasized.

This course is grounded in decades of real-world undercover and surveillance experience and is designed to provide immediately applicable skills, sound judgment, and professional discipline for both operators and supervisors.

Student Responsibilities

Students are responsible for obtaining permission and approval from their departments prior to registration if the student plans to attend on duty and have the agency pay for it. You know the rules.

If you want to attend, we recommend working with your agency prior to registering for a class. Because if you register for a class, and your department does not approve your time or tuition for any reason, you are still responsible for the terms of the attendance and cancellation policy including any applicable tuition.  Again, we know you get it and we look forward to seeing you in class!

Target Audience

This course is designed for law enforcement officers, investigators, supervisors, and security professionals tasked with conducting covert operations; however, all current law enforcement and security personnel of any rank and assignment are welcome.
